Monte Dei’s vision is to help the most vulnerable members of society by providing shelter, through rehabilitation of existing residences and new development of residential and multi-family housing.
Monte Dei’s mission is to build future free housing for retired religious clergy called Monte Dei Village.

Monte Dei Village

Monte Dei’s  free housing communities will primarily be senior independent living residences for indigent US Catholic nuns, priests, and other religious congregations as a separate but co-located micro-community nestled inside a secular hill-top or mountain-top planned area development. There are plans for an assisted living facility at a future development.

Monte Dei will manage and operate a  unique enclave that represents an underserved population because approximately 94% of religious orders no longer can provide for the needs of their congregation during their twilight years after a lifetime of service and a vow of poverty.

Monte Dei will offer up to 100 simple efficiency studios with prime views of Globe’s western mountain ranges, night sky watching, amenities for recreation such as easy access to Round Mountain hiking trails and free EV transportation to downtown historic Globe’s activities and dining just a few minutes away.

Monte Dei’s free housing will be funded primarily by Monte Dei Globe, a Qualified Opportunity Zone Business rural developer, by donating a tithe of their profits from their visionary planned area development called Marigold Village.

Marigold Village is Monte Dei Globe’s premiere multi-phased, mixed-use development featuring single-family residential, multi-family, commercial/retail and hotel/event space on nearly 60 acres of prime real estate in Globe’s northeastern corridor.

Marigold Village will incorporate the most effective sustainable and renewable technology (e.g., solar, passive cooling architecture, rainwater capturing and gray water filtration, etc.) in its design and architecture so our communities will be as self-sustaining as possible while simultaneously preserving the natural beauty of its environment.

Monte Dei Globe’s core values of balancing development with a healthy respect for nature reflect the principles as taught by the Encyclical, “Laudato Si” written by Pope Francis, which advocates for the care of our common home, the planet Earth.

Monte Dei will continue to raise additional funds by reaching out to other charities and non-profit organisations for building future free housing for religious retirement housing and assisted living facilities in other locations.

Activities

  • Project Blue Smile – provide grants for seniors and the disabled to rehabilitate their homes for better mobility, ageing in place, and to encourage multi-generational family living.
  • Project Hand Up / Home Ownership Down Payment Assistance – Provides a no cost, interest-free grant to help down payment assistance to purchase a primary residence. Will require completion of credit counselling and financial/budget planning education throughout the program. Grants may also be used towards repairs and to rehabilitate the primary residence.

Future complimentary activities

Monte Dei plans to provide complementary programs that nourish and heal one’s mind, body, and spirit so that we build a stronger community and encourage each member to give back, thereby leaving this world a better place than where we found it.

  • Project Clean Living – a proof of concept “micro farm” for sustainable and biodynamic farming to an urban, backyard scale. The farm will feature rainwater harvesting, raising hens and other animals, and aquaponics for growing vegetables and fish!
  • Provide free transportation services for seniors and disabled to and from their medical appointments, shopping for groceries, etc.
  • Operate a soup kitchen where three daily nourishing meals are provided for free to the indigent.
  • Provide teachers in rural communities with scholarship grants for creative ways to encourage student learning.
  • Establish a year-round camp for at-risk kids in rural communities where they can learn vocational skills.
  • Provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors to vocational schools in the rural communities where we serve.
  • Establish a school or healing institute to teach people ways to heal using nutrition and other natural healing modalities;
  • Rehabilitate transition housing for the homeless and partner with a local non-profit to manage the housing.

Monte Dei is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c) (3) charity with headquarters in the City of
Globe, Arizona.
